Ayris is so pinchable...

Two facts:

1.) Ayris has a problem keeping her clothes on...I can't think of the last time she made it through an entire day without ending up in just her underwear.

2.) Ever since Ayris was a little girl, I've wanted to pinch her little butt cheeks...the urge has lessened as her butt has grown but still...from time to time...they need to be pinched (not hard!)

Mommy: Ayris, come here real quick.
Ayris: Why?
Mommy: Just come here, real quick!
Ayris: Ok.
Mommy: (After pinching butt cheeks)...Your butt was just asking to be pinched!
Ayris: No it wasn't! My butt can't talk!

Also, here is the 10 week update:

How your baby's growing:
Though he's barely the size of a kumquat — a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature.

He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy.

If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.

In other developments: Your baby's limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord. Your baby's forehead temporarily bulges with his developing brain and sits very high on his head, which measures half the length of his body. From crown to rump, he's about 1 1/4 inches long. In the coming weeks, your baby will again double in size — to nearly 3 inches.

Asher laughing at someone getting hurt...

So I was on Jillian Michael's facebook page and she had a link to this youtube video of a woman dancing in a mask to Beyonce's Single Ladies song...anyway, the woman hits her head and Asher goes crazy laughing...by the time I got out my camera, he'd already watched it like 15 times...and he was still giggling! He kept saying "one more time!"...here's a link to the youtube video as it wouldn't let me embed it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AN5YbfFszlI

Baby Addison pics...

I'm just going to call the baby Addison in an attempt to forshadow the baby's gender...So these aren't much to look at just yet...but it was nice to have an ultrasound and see that something is indeed residing in there...as I still am not feeling very pregnant yet...

Stats were:

9 weeks and 1 day (as of yesterday so 9 weeks and 2 days today)
187 bpm for heartrate
He/She also had their little arm buds flapping around

The black part that the baby is lying in that looks like a kidney bean is the amniotic sac filled with fluid...I initally thought that was my uterus but I guess my uterus is the outer white wall around it.

Doesn't this kind of look like a little cat toy that someone is dangling above the baby to play with? I think it's actually the "yolk" that should be disappearing in the next few weeks. Also kind of looks like baby is doing situps with his/her arms behind his head.

This is the babycenter picture for what baby looks like...it's pretty close...

Since I didn't post last weeks 8 week update since I was in Oklahoma, I will post that below along with week 9's update.
Week 8:

How your baby's growing:New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.
Week 9:

Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.

The kids first snowman...

Also a video of Asher's mad kicking skills...can you imagine him playing soccer on the field while running with a balloon in his hand? =)

25 Interesting Facts About Ayris...

1. Ayris never stops talking....ever. She's always been advanced in the language dept...ever since she was little. The doctors even said so. She was always very articulate and you could understand her words even when she was little. She was never the kid where only her parents could get what she was saying.

2. Ayris used a nuk until her 3rd birthday...day and night.

3. Ayris is a 4th generation donut/all things sweet fanatic.

4. Ayris seems to lose an article of clothing each time she goes to the bathroom...until she's down to her underwear...which is generally what she runs around in everyday, unless we have errands to run.

5. Ayris is wildly creative at putting various outfits together and actually making them look good.

6. Ayris wants everything on the planet for her birthday...every commercial she sees...every toy we pass in the store. I've just started saying "okay." This also leads me to believe that she thinks "money grows on trees"...like I used to think when I was little.

7. Ayris used to eat pretty much anything...now she's grown picky. She's so smart, she can tell just by looking at some foods that she doesn't like them! Surprisingly, if we force her to try them once, sometimes she decides it isn't half bad.

8. Ayris was potty trained in two days with only two accidents.

9. Ayris is an entertainer...when she was at the Montessori, she was the only kid singing loud and going through the motions on stage...and now she learns the words of songs and asks to "sing them on stage" at school...lets hope she doesn't take the entertaining and combine it with #4 as a profession. =) Kidding!

10. Ayris likes to torture cats and her favorite dog is a 3 legged Yorkie named Shadow. She loves him SO much that she's professed that she'd rather live with Grandma Sooner just so she can be with him.

11. Ayris likes to take her stuffed animals and wash them in the sink with lots of soap.

12. Ayris is talented and can bite her toenails. Asher can too...so can mommy and daddy...nothing but pure talent in this family. (Coincidentally, Asher can pinch with his toes like his momma can! I forgot that while making his list)

13. Ayris doesn't like her hair washed. She'll bargain when deciding on whether or not she wants to take a bath...only if you don't wash her hair.

14. When Ayris gets really excited, she molests whoever gave her the good news (usually getting the heck out of this house to go spend the night with one of the grandparents!) with a million kisses all over their face.

15. Ayris likes to open/close the garage door and prefers to be the one to check the mail.

16. Ayris was recently scared by foxes and came into our room every single night for 5 weeks straight. LUCKILY she has now slept in her own room 3 times on her own without waking up. Go Ayris!

17. Ayris is a Capricorn and so am I...we both have a problem with authority and would prefer to make our own decisions and be in control ourselves...this makes for an unruly match sometimes. Unfortunately for her...when you're only 3, you can't make all of your own decisions and be in control of everything...so she just opts not to listen to the mommy trying to make those decisions for her.

18. In relation to #17 and Ayris making her own decisions...Ayris' original due date was January 23rd...then it was moved up to January 14th based on the ultrasound. When she didn't come on the 14th, I wanted to have an induction scheduled for January 18th and my doctor was on board...the hospital was not however and said they would not consider me until the 20th...Ayris decided to come on her own...on the 18th. Maybe that was just her trying to make me happy? That phase is LONG gone!

19. Ayris has my toes...the toe next to her big toe curves towards the big toe while the rest of her toes curve the other way. Asher has my toes too...take a look at your toes...maybe we're not special...maybe everyones toes does this?

20. I think Ayris might still be sleeping in a crib had we not switched her to a big girl bed right before she turned 3. She never seemed to have a desire to leave her crib for a bed.

21. Ayris loves tv/movies...she asks for Redbox movies by name and watches streaming netflix on the computer daily.

22. Even though Ayris fights with her brother CONSTANTLY...she misses him and gets teary eyed when he's gone.

23. Ayris is extremely smart...hopefully she stays that way...because I don't' think I'm going to be much help when it comes to homework these days.

24. Ayris has to hide every time her daddy comes home and if she can't hide in time, she freaks out and starts crying.

25. In addition to number 24, Ayris has started laughing when she's crying...she seems to be confused about which emotion she wants to express. =) It's kind of crazy...which I guess means, she's a complete girl.

In addition...this snow sucks.

And here's this weeks baby update:

How your baby's growing: Week 7:

The big news this week: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry.

If you could see inside your womb, you'd spot eyelid folds partially covering her peepers, which already have some color, as well as the tip of her nose and tiny veins beneath parchment-thin skin. Both hemispheres of your baby's brain are growing, and her liver is churning out red blood cells until her bone marrow forms and takes over this role. She also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. A loop in your baby's growing intestines is bulging into her umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from her tiny body.

The picture pretty much looked the same so I'm not posting it this time!

25 Interesting Facts About Asher...

So in my US Weekly Magazines, they've started these 25 things you don't know about actors...I thought it'd be kind of fun to do them for the kids...so they can look back on interesting facts about themselves in different stages of their lives...

25 current facts about Asher:

1. Asher currently has 4 chipped teeth. I noticed his first one when I was at the dentist and freaked out...when I checked a couple of weeks ago he was up to three...this morning he has four...they are just little chips but seriously, where are they coming from? Baby by day, boxer by night!

2. Asher's favorite movie as of late is Coraline. He would watch it 7 times a day if we would allow it...which we won't because it's starting to drive us crazy. (Incidentally, Chris asked me this morning if I remember having the lines to Finding Nemo memorized when Ayris was little and that was her favorite movie...I could barely recall it, which scares me that I'm already deleting important memories from my kids childhoods!)

3. Asher has a thing for boobs...already. He likes to pinch and poke them....point and say "Boobies!"

4. Asher is well over the 100 percentile for everything...height, weight and head circumference...and has been since he was about 2 months old.

5. Asher is now requesting to see his poop when I change his diaper...after I show him he says "See it time" which translates into "See it a second time."

6. Asher has some jacked up toenails...it's like ingrown toenails except the ingrown part just splits off from the regular part of his nail on it's own and we just have to yank it off.

7. Asher's favorite food is probably suckers and Popsicles but he only gets them at bath time because he's just too messy otherwise.

8. Correction to #7, Asher is a lover of all foods...there's not much he won't eat...suckers and Popsicles are just a favorite treat.

9. Asher has a pink bear whose eyes now look like they have cataracts from being washed so many times. This was a bear that Chris had brought home from a trip to New York for Ayris when she was a baby. Asher found it probably a year or so back and they have been inseparable since. Chris and I are thinking of taking a trip to NYC for our 5 year anniversary, not only because I've never been but also in hopes of tracking down a replacement bear as this one is falling apart.

10. Asher has had a nebulizer since he was a baby and has to use it several times per year.

11. Asher (along with his sister) has a favorite song called "So What" by Pink, but they call it the "Na Na" song and they request to hear it on repeat every single time we enter the car. My trips with the kids are now very limited.

12. Asher is ADDICTED to helium balloons. I was in CVS with him once and he was SCREAMING for a balloon...I had $3 in extracare bucks with nothing to spend it on so I thought, what the heck? That balloon was actually $4.50...WTF! That's highway robbery! We now have a helium tank that we keep on hand at home and he generally gets a fresh balloon each morning with a 10 foot string attached as to not lose it to the vaulted ceilings...Chris has saved many a balloons trapped in the ceiling fan...vaulted corner, etc...

13. Asher is very polite, and I'm not sure where he gets it...he says thank you for almost everything.

14. Asher only makes the kiss noises (mwah) when kissing his bear or someone on the cheek, he doesn't do it when he kisses lips.

15. Asher can kick a ball like Cristiano Ronaldo and throw like Tony Romo...K, maybe not exactly like them (and I don't really know who these people are...I just googled great soccer player and asked Chris who could throw a good football) BUT he's already showing some major skill in the sports department.

16. When you ask Asher for a high five, he'll give you one and then say "Knuckles!" and put his fist out for some pounding...(Chris taught him that.)

17. Asher loves blankets...fleece, down, all of them.

18. Asher has had breath holding spells since he was a baby...it only occurs in .01-5% of children. When he gets angry or hurt and cries too hard, he'll stop breathing, pass out, turn purple and go limp. He'll then be really sleepy which will be followed by about 5 minutes of inconsolable crying. Supposedly, he will grow out of this by the time he's 5-6 (thank goodness!)

19. Asher has been good at chewing gum since he was about 16 months? He will chew it for a good 45 minutes or so. It always gets spit out in some random spot but he never swallows it (like his sister does.)

20. Asher LOVES dinosaurs...he has a collection of walking and talking dinosaurs that he plays with everyday but he's just as happy playing with his plastic dinosaurs making the roaring sounds himself. He also loves airplanes. He can spot an airplane way before anyone else in the car can. He is even aware of airplanes in the sky without physically seeing them...he's mentioned them just when hearing the jets roar by.

21. Asher didn't sleep through the night until around 22 months...when we moved him into his sisters room and could close the door and not hear all of his noises!

22. Asher is Mr. Helper. He gladly picks up toys on his own and will do what I ask of him (throw diapers away, etc...he will probably be the one helping out with the next baby!)

23. Asher is also Mr. Clean. He will take baby wipes and wipe the doors, couches, chairs and tables down.

24. Asher is very laid back...if he makes a request (like to watch Coraline for the hundredth time) and you tell him "in a little bit", he is okay with that and moves on.

25. Most importantly, Asher is a lover. He will come up and give random hugs and kisses for no reason at all. I have no doubt he is going to make a wonderful husband (if I can keep him just as he is!)

"FOR WE WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT"

This was on my friends facebook this morning...I thought it was good.

SOMEBODY'S RAISING THEIR KID RIGHT!
One Nation, 'Under God'.

One day a 6 year old girl was sitting in a classroom. The teacher was going to explain evolution to the children.

The teacher asked a little boy: Tommy do you see the tree outside?

TOMMY: Yes.

TEACHER: Tommy, do you see the grass outside?

TOMMY: Yes.

TEACHER: Go outside and look up and see if you can see the sky.

TOMMY: Okay. (He returned a few minutes later) Yes, I saw the sky.

TEACHER: Did you see God up there?

TOMMY: No.

TEACHER: That's my point. We can't see God because he isn't there. Possibly he just doesn't exist.

A little girl spoke up and wanted to ask the boy some questions. The teacher agreed and the little girl asked the boy:

Tommy, do you see the tree outside?

TOMMY: Yes.

LITTLE GIRL: Tommy do you see the grass outside?

TOMMY: Yessssss!

LITTLE GIRL: Did you see the sky?

TOMMY: Yessssss!

LITTLE GIRL: Tommy, do you see the teacher?

TOMMY: Yes

LITTLE GIRL: Do you see her brain?

TOMMY: No

LITTLE GIRL: Then according to what we were taught today in school, she possibly may not even have one!

It's Not Fair

Here's a short clip of Asher telling me "It's Not Fair" although he's not sure why it's not fair and probably doesn't even remember what wasn't fair to begin with (not being able to have a bottle and instead getting a sippy cup.)

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

The good thing about siblings...

There are plenty of bad things about siblings...like the fighting and the picking up of certain phrases...like Asher telling me this morning that it "wasn't fair" that he had to eat oatmeal when just two days ago, he ate it with me no problem and "loved it." However, his big sister has been pounding the "it isn't fair" phrase into the ground as of late. Nothing in her life is fair...EVER. Well now, everything is unfair for Asher too. Life not being fair is a hard lesson to learn when you're only 2 and 3!

BUT, the positive thing about siblings is that Asher wants to do EVERY single thing Ayris does, SO...when he wouldn't eat the oatmeal, I asked Ayris to pretend she was eating it (she genuinely doesn't like oatmeal and had already had yogurt for breakfast)...no sooner than taking her first bite, Asher was back on board and all was right in the world again.

This also can work to a mommy's advantage when I need something:

Mommy: Ayris, can you get me a wipe, it looks like Asher got some boogers on the couch.
Ayris: No.
Mommy: Fine, I'll have Asher get it.

(Ayris SPRINTS over to the wipes as to get one before her brother has the privilege of getting it himself)...it's amazing how these daunting tasks become rewarding when some competition is involved!

She's got good moves for a white girl!

I might be the only one excited about these...

But I love getting baby updates...I don't think it would matter if I was on my 10th child...I think babies are miracles and being able read exactly what's taking place in there whether I realize it or not is just amazing so I'm going to start posting them because I know everyone else cares too =)

How your baby's growing:

This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you'll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil bean.

It then went on to talk about having a split personality, which I feel like I have currently...I don't remember being that way with my last two pregnancies but I also wasn't surrounded by the two wonderful little people I already have 24/7...they seem to be bringing out the crazy in me more than normal lately. Yesterday I yelled at both kids at the top of my lungs in the kitchen because Asher decided to pour an entire pitcher of water on the floor and Ayris was trying to yell something at me to get my attention...so then I felt like a horrible mom later...yes, I do my share of yelling at the two of them when they aren't listening or are fighting with each other, etc...but that experience yesterday was just a baby exploring his surroundings and a little girl wanting her mom's attention. I can't wait until I can feel guilty about the 3rd baby who is yet unborn...had that situation happened 4 months from now when baby number 3 can pick up sounds inside the womb, he/she, might just decide they'd rather stay camped out in there versus joining the chaos on the outside!

And So Begin the Weird Dreams

Every single pregnancy I have an array of dreams that make me question if I should even be having kids...they are usually THAT bad. I think I started a dream journal with Asher? and didn't end up writing more than two of them down so I'll use the blog as my pregnancy journal with this one...because lately, I've had nothing to write about!

It started with me sweeping up leaves in some neighbors house (and Chris, you'll be happy to know it was in a NICE neighborhood...with huge houses and backyards with pools)...I'm not sure why I was doing that...in the dream, it felt as though it was my fault the leaves were in the house? I kept wondering about the kids and wanted to check on them but in the back of my mind knew that they were playing downstairs with the neighbor's kids.

The next thing I know, I'm out by the pool and am asking my friend Jill if she killed/shot her mother...and she said yes. And then I said, "but you didn't kill your father did you?"...and she told me she had. I felt sick to my stomach and wanted to cry but didn't want her to think I thought she was crazy. (Jill is my hairdresser in real life and she wouldn't kill anyone...which is what always makes these dreams unbelievable). She asked me if there was anyone I wanted to kill and I said no.

The next thing I know, I'm in the hospital identifying her dad (whom I've never met) and the nurses tell me that she actually killed her whole family, her mom, dad, brother and sister. Now I'm bawling because I couldn't stomach the idea of this and she isn't around so it's okay. When they lifted the sheet off her dad, he immediately got up off the table and was alive (barely)...turns out the baby brother was alive and so was her older sister (of which had a child)...come to find out, all of the family had signed up to allow themselves to be shot because it was what Jill wanted and she had convinced them it was the right thing to do.

That was pretty much the end of it...I heard a TV show playing and that woke me up. Which coincidentally is another story. I'm paranoid as it is but when I'm pregnant, that gets thrown into overdrive. The other night (Chris was out of town which makes me even more paranoid) around 2:30 or so in the morning, I hear the TV downstairs...I leave it on on the nights that he's gone but I turn the sound off. So I jump out of bed freaked out by it being on and the sound continued until I reached the loft where I can look downstairs, the sound system was off...as though it had never been on. Well great, now I had to add ghosts to my list of already irrational fears. My thoughts about that incident kept me up for a good 45 minutes after the fact. I went over every possible explanation for why it could have turned on all by itself and came up with nothing. Well this morning, I realized the TV show was coming from the laptop on Chris' side of the bed. When Chris travels, Ayris usually stays up late in my room watching some netflix show on the laptop with headphones. When she's done, she just shuts the lid and I'll unplug the headphones and lay the computer on the floor. The show had started back up this morning and that's where the noise was coming from. SO...perhaps the other night, it was the laptop, but the loudness was just turned down so I didn't realize it was coming from this room? Even though it's still unsettling to think that my hibernating laptop is playing on it's own with the lid shut, I tend to think laptops are a little wonky and with a mind of their own versus actual sound systems turning themselves on.

So see...I seriously turn crazy when I'm pregnant...only at night though =)

I see I'm not the only one dreaming crazy dreams tonight...Ayris just said:

"Why did Sabine and Sophie and Lucy want to move into town with us? I think we should get rid of Lucy and her cage and Sophie and Sabine so we can sweep the dust behind there."

I'm with her on Lucy (anyone want a bearded dragon to love?) but the girl would never get rid of her cats...she'd have no one but Asher to torture! Anyway, she's back to sleep now...so she must've been dreaming it.
